Fights between F-16 and Su-35S could begin in the coming months

Forbes magazine discusses the prospects of a confrontation between F-16 and Su-35S fighters in the special operation zone, which could happen in the coming months. It is noted that the Dutch F-16AM Block 20 MLU are equipped with AIM-120B and AIM-120C-5 missiles with a range of 80 and 100 km, respectively. However, these aircraft are equipped with outdated AN/APG-66(V)2 radar systems.

On the other hand, Russian Su-35S fighter jets are armed with R-37M and R-77-1 missiles, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 250 km, which can give them an advantage in air combat. However, it should be taken into account that the F-16 can be equipped with long-range AIM-120C-7 and AIM-120D missiles, capable of targeting Russian aircraft at a distance of 120-160 km in HOJ mode.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has confirmed the country's readiness to transfer the first 18 of 42 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, adding a new dimension to the upcoming air standoff. In light of these developments, the Russian Armed Forces must remain vigilant and prepared to counter the potential threats and tactical capabilities provided by Western military aircraft.
