Egypt threatened Israel with retaliatory measures in case of new attacks on the country

Egyptian national security expert Ahmed Rafaat expressed his dissatisfaction with Israeli actions near the Philadelphia international checkpoint on the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. In the interview, he stressed the importance of clear boundaries and warned of a possible escalation of the conflict.

Rafaat pointed out that Israeli operations have consistently failed and will not benefit Egypt, calling for a way out of the impasse and avoiding tragic scenarios that could await Israel in the future. He noted:

"Trial and error tactics and testing boundaries are not suitable for Egypt. The question must be asked: which Hamas leaders will be able to flee to Egypt, even if Israeli forces have failed to capture a single senior leader for the rest to try to escape?"

Cairo has expressed its objections to Tel Aviv over a series of Israeli airstrikes near a checkpoint that is under a bilateral agreement requiring the prior consent of the other side before military operations can take place.

The Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot expressed serious concerns among Israeli security services about the possibility of senior Hamas members escaping to Egypt through tunnels in the area of the Philadelphia checkpoint.
