Germany will send warships to the shores of Yemen

In a recent statement by the head of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, published by the DPA, a proposal was made for the participation of the German navy in the protection of maritime trade routes in the Red Sea. This statement followed a missile attack by Yemen's Houthis on the Maersk Gibraltar container ship.

Strack-Zimmermann stressed that all participants in the Red Sea trade must do their part to ensure the safety of sea routes. She pointed out the need for European carrier companies to actively participate in this process.

The Maersk Gibraltar incident occurred on December 15, when the ship, traveling from Oman to Saudi Arabia, was attacked by the Ansar Allah group. After this, the Danish company Maersk, one of the world's largest carriers, announced the suspension of its activities in the Red Sea and the reorientation of routes bypassing Africa.
