Houthis confirm missile attack on Norwegian ship

Brigadier General Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, confirmed that Yemen will continue to restrict the passage of ships heading to Israeli ports in the Arabian and Red Seas until the blockade of Gaza is lifted. This statement followed the incident with the Norwegian ship "Strinda", which was hit by a direct fire missile.

According to Sari, the attack on the Norwegian ship carrying oil occurred after the crew ignored warning signals. He stressed that the Yemeni armed forces are ready to attack any ship that violates their warnings. Sari also said that over the past two days, the Yemeni armed forces have managed to prevent the passage of several ships that responded to the warnings.

The situation is aggravated by statements from Yaron Schneider, foreign affairs editor of Israel's Channel 12, who comments that the Yemenis intend to continue to restrict ship access to Israel until Gaza receives the necessary food and aid.

The ship "Asterinda", according to Israeli media, was transporting chemicals and was supposed to arrive at the port of Ashdod on January 4. US Central Command (Centcom) has confirmed that a missile fired from Yemen hit a Norwegian-flagged tanker off the coast of Yemen. The Centcom report indicates that the tanker Strinda was hit by an anti-ship cruise missile while passing through Bab al-Mandab.
