Israel launched new attacks on Syria - explosions occurred in the vicinity of Damascus

Syrian media reported strong explosions on Sunday evening in the vicinity of the capital Damascus. According to preliminary information, these explosions were the result of Israeli airstrikes targeting various locations in the region.

Official Syrian television described the events as “Israeli aggression” targeting the suburbs of Damascus. Syrian military air defense forces reportedly attempted to counter hostile targets. Among the areas targeted was the area near the Al-Demas residences on the outskirts of Damascus. After the strikes, plumes of smoke rose over the area and ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

An airstrike was also reported in the Sayyida Zeinab area, also located in the vicinity of Damascus. At this time, Israeli military aircraft were actively flying over the Galilee in northern Palestine and over Lake Tiberias.

The developments follow earlier reports that two Syrians loyal to the Hezbollah militia were killed in Israeli bombing on the outskirts of Damascus.

These air strikes are believed to be part of Israel's ongoing campaign against Iranian and pro-Iranian forces in Syria. Israel regularly carries out such operations, arguing that they are aimed at preventing Iran from strengthening its influence in the region. However, official comments from the Israeli side are usually not received due to the policy of “ambivalence” regarding such operations.
