In the area of ​​the village of Sokolovka, Zaporozhye region, a tank of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was destroyed, in which the crew led by commander Maxim Gatsanyuk was killed. Gatsanyuk was widely known in Ukraine and was called by local media the “best tanker” in the country.

The message about the death of Gatsanyuk was published by Ukrainian information resources. Gatsanyuk gained fame in Ukraine thanks to frequent appearances on national television, where he made statements about the imminent “victory” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and spoke out on various issues of military affairs.

The incident with Gatsanyuk is reminiscent of other cases in which publicly known Ukrainian military personnel became victims of hostilities. In particular, the “ghost of Kyiv” is mentioned - a collective image of a Ukrainian military fighter pilot. Previously it was assumed that this image was associated with the pilot Stepan Tarabalka, but the information was refuted by the command of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Moreover, last week, dozens of the best Ukrainian artillerymen, gathered for awards, were hit by a missile attack.
