Poland buys 1000 South Korean K2 tanks

Poland, as part of the modernization and strengthening of its military potential, has concluded a major deal for the purchase of 1000 South Korean-made K2 tanks. According to Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak, the first 180 units of this armored vehicle will be delivered to the country by 2025, and some of them are already in service with the Polish military.

In addition to this batch, Poland plans to purchase 820 K2PL tanks, which will be specially adapted to the needs of the Polish army. A Polish-Korean consortium was created to implement this project. Deliveries of adapted tanks will begin in 2026.

"Modern K2 tanks, together with the American Abrams, will serve as the backbone of Poland's armored forces for the coming decades," Minister Blaszczak stressed.

In addition to strengthening the armored personnel, Poland is actively updating its arsenal of ammunition. A contract was recently signed for the supply of 1 million 155mm shells. Blaszczak also noted a significant strengthening of the capabilities of the Polish armed forces in general.
