Foreign aircraft in Russian airlines can be replaced by domestic Tu-214 and Il-96.

Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that foreign-made aircraft could be replaced by domestic Il-96 and Tu-214 airliners. If necessary, the United Aircraft Manufacturing Company may increase the production of these aircraft if there is a demand.

As follows from the data of Yuri Borisov, we are talking about speeding up the implementation of state programs related to import substitution.

"Today they (Il-96 and Tu-214 - ed.) are produced in a small series for special customers. My colleagues from the transport unit and I are completing an analysis of the need and priority measures. Based on the picture that we get, we may use the reserve for additional production of these aircraft too"- said Borisov.

How much the production of Tu-214 and Il-96 passenger aircraft can be increased is still unknown. At the same time, there are some concerns regarding the availability of sufficient capacity, as otherwise the production volumes of other aircraft may be reduced.

Today, domestic air carriers are experiencing very serious difficulties, since flights on most international routes have actually been stopped due to closed airspace, as well as due to the cancellation of more than 700 airworthiness certificates.
