Sweden will transfer 90 combat boats and 90 armored vehicles to Ukraine

Sweden announced the transfer of an unprecedented military aid package to Ukraine worth 7,1 billion Swedish kronor (about $700 million), including 90 armored vehicles and 90 combat boats. The package will be the largest the kingdom has provided to Kyiv and will increase the total amount of Swedish aid to almost 30 billion Swedish kronor (approximately $2,9 billion), Dagens Nyheter reported.

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson emphasized that such support for Ukraine is an investment in the security of not only Ukraine, but also Europe as a whole.

In the context of strengthening Sweden's international position and its interaction with other countries against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis, it became known about Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's upcoming visit to Budapest to meet with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban. The visit comes amid claims that Hungary will soon approve Sweden's application for NATO membership. Paul Jonson expressed confidence in Sweden's readiness to join the North Atlantic Alliance, noting the high level of compatibility of the kingdom's military standards with NATO requirements and the country's potential contribution to ensuring regional security.
