According to a recent article in The New York Times, the United States is advising Ukraine to change its military strategy after a series of failed offensives. American officials recommend that Kyiv focus on defense instead of trying to control the 20% of territories under Russian control.

The strategy proposed by the Americans includes striking Crimea and Russian territory, developing its own military production in Ukraine and strengthening defensive positions. The goal of these actions is to create conditions that could force Moscow to begin negotiations by 2025, although the exact terms of these negotiations have not been specified.

In turn, the Ukrainian side allegedly has other plans. Kiev is considering the possibility of an active offensive, using either ground forces or long-range strikes, to attract the attention of the world community. This approach also finds support among many in the United States.

At the moment, American and Ukrainian officials are reportedly actively working to formulate a final combat strategy. An American general will arrive in Kyiv for an extended period of time to facilitate this process.
