The US is afraid to attack the Houthis

In the last month, the Houthis have become more active in the waters adjacent to Yemen, carrying out attacks on commercial ships and even US Navy ships. According to Tyler Rogoway, director of the military editorial office of the American publication The Drive, the Pentagon has sent two aircraft carrier strike groups (ACG) of the US Navy to the Middle East region, but no actions are being taken to counter pirates.

Rogoway underscored the complexity of the situation, pointing to a wide range of potential responses to the Houthis, ranging from proportionate measures to all-out campaigns. The US, which has supported Saudi Arabia in the conflict with the Houthis since 2015, faces a new escalation that could have far-reaching consequences. Rogoway mentioned that Iran and its proxy groups, including Hezbollah, could actively enter the conflict at any time, which would greatly complicate the situation.

The Houthis showed aggression towards Israel, but their efforts were neutralized by the air defense/missile defense systems of Israel and the US Navy. According to the author, the Houthis seek to involve the United States in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

In connection with these events, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the multinational Operation Prosperity Guardian, which aims to protect sea routes from Houthi attacks. The operation involves the United States, Great Britain, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and the Seychelles.
