The Ukrainian military has attempted to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with Ukrainian-made UJ-25 Skyline jet engines to attack Russian regions. However, according to experts, the main goal of this operation was not to launch a strike, but to reconnaissance of the positions of Russian air defense systems.

The UJ-25 Skyline UAV, equipped with a jet engine, is capable of speeds of up to 800 km/h, which is comparable to the speed characteristics of fighter jets. This makes it a priority target for Russian air defense systems. At the same time, the payload of the UJ-25 Skyline is only 10 kg, which confirms assumptions about its use for reconnaissance purposes.

This incident was the first time that the Ukrainian Armed Forces used jet drones to attack the territory of the Russian Federation. This method could allow the Ukrainian side to identify the positions and potential vulnerabilities of air defense systems.

Although the attempted attack was repelled, the incident highlights the importance of assessing enemy capabilities and tactics in an ongoing conflict.
